Or are we our own FP since our mandated independence?

So, what’s the deal with this, anyways? I know Oppo has always had a bit of a dislike for the FP, but I used to be able to jump here from the drop down of sub-blogs. Now Oppo is completely out of that list.
Can someone tell me the cliff’s notes of what happened, and why?

I guess the Gawker-verse did it with a bunch of blogs.
I guess some Oppo stories ended up with copyright issues and someone tried to say they were a Jalopnik author to get a press car. They distanced themselves from us due to those problems

All user run (i.e. not Gawker employed authors) subblogs got bounced to kinja for some legal reasons and partly to distinguish their authors from official gawker media members

Wow, I didn’t know some idiot tried to get a press car like that. I assumed it was because we are largely self-regulated and we don’t have to follow the same rules as blogs like Lanesplitter or Truck Yeah.
There’s probably not much cross-pollination, but I also enjoy reading the Ani-TAY blog. They have been gone from the Kotaku drop-down menu for a very long time, way before Oppo was. And I think it’s for the better in both cases.
